Regular Groups

Singing Fellowship

The group, which began in the founder Leonie’s home, now meets regularly in the Church, currently with 15 singers and accompanied by several pianists, a flautist, a saxophonist, a recorder player, a guitarist, and a drummer. Together, they enjoy singing traditional hymns and new songs, as well as sharing some of the creative poetry written by members. On occasions they sing during services and help lead them.

This group was formed in 1989 and has a particular ministry to the elderly by visiting Hethersett Hall Care Home once a month. The group also visits the Forget-Me-Not Cafe, which is run under the auspices of Hethersett Dementia Support.

Four times a year, the very popular Music and Tea Afternoon is held at the church where as well as the singing and readings, tea and homemade cakes are served afterwards.

Bible Study

Our Study Groups are organised at various times during the year such as Lent and usually have a specific focus. From January to September 2025, Rev Steve Cullis will lead a new course exploring the meaning of following Jesus, titled ‘Practicing The Way’.

The Practicing the Way Course is designed to help us in developing habits and practices in daily life that help us to follow Jesus, and listen to his voice above all the other voices that fill our lives and our world. If we do this well it will change us for the good.

Hethersett meetings will take place on certain Tuesdays at 7.00pm, but the same sessions are also offered at Wymondham Methodist Church on certain Mondays at 2.00pm. The available sessions are:
– 21st January: Following Jesus
– 18th February: Formation part 1
– 18th March: Formation part 2 (this session is now postponed)
– 6th May: The Practices
– June 3rd: Meeting God in Pain and Suffering
– July 8th: Healing From Sin
– August 5th: Crafting a rule for Life
– September 2nd: Life Together

Coffee Stop

A weekly coffee morning is held for the local community in the church on Wednesdays from 10 am.

A selection of fresh coffees are served until midday, often with cake or similar refreshments. This is an opportunity for members of the church and the local community to join together, and is proving very popular amongst village residents.
