Fairtrade Fortnight – 22nd Feb – 7th March 2010
The theme this year is The Big Swap, focusing on the tea industry, Traidcraft has teamed up with the Women’s Institute in a campaign to make every one of the 165 million cups of tea we drink each day in this country Fairtrade.
Together the UK’s top five brands – Tetley, PG Tips, Yorkshire Tea, Twinings and Typhoo – account for 72% of the UK market.
‘If just one of them switched to Fairtrade it would make a real difference to the lives of thousands of small-scale farmers and workers,’ said Traidcraft Campaign Officer Camilla Porter.
How can you help?
- Buy fairtrade products, either from the Church Stall or from your local supermarkets.
- For this campaign fill in one of the action cards, letting the big brands know you want them to Make It Fair
